AME - INAUGURATION

At the Annual Inauguration of the forthcoming tenure of AME, graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Shankar Ramachandran, AGM – EV Operations at Ashok Leyland Ltd. – Ennore, who provided insights into the scope and challenges faced by the Electric Vehicle industry, the emphasis was laid on unity and knowledge-sharing among the members of DoME. The new office bearers of AME and its committee members were formally introduced by the General Secretary, Mohamed Husain Haroon Rasheed, followed by the respective teams responsible for organizing various events and initiatives in tandem with DoME’s achievements, aspirations, and path forward.

The students, faculty, and staff of DoME united in a spirit of joy and camaraderie on the vibrant occasion of Onam.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

The first-year orientation began with a comprehensive session aimed at familiarizing new students with each other. To help students get to know each other, ice-breaker activities were organized.

This session included various activities like Sound party, dumb charades, and Anonymous confessions. These activities helped create a sense of camaraderie among the first-year students.

SESSION ON RESUME BUILDING

The Class of Seventy-Six embarked on a noteworthy initiative to upskill the budding engineers of DoME; Mr. V Ravindran propelled this initiative further in a session dedicated to crafting effective resumes that succinctly and persuasively showcase one’s relevant achievements, capabilities, and experiences tailored to align with the job requirements to capture recruiters’ attention, as well as Applicant Tracking Systems that look out for appropriate keywords and content intricacy for successful shortlisting.

TALK ON THE PREVAILING TRENDS IN PLACEMENTS

Dr. K Shanmuga Sundaram, Director of the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration, led a didactic talk on the contemporary trends in placement and insights on placement preparation targeted at third and fourth-year students with a focus on continued self-development, self-awareness, and self-evaluation of strengths and weaknesses. It also brought forth other indispensable aspects, including soft skills, networking and professional branding, and strong resume building for excelling in the interviews.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK

Mr. V Balakrishnan, an incredible motivational speaker, demonstrated contagious passion and energy in a session packed with valuable excerpts that resonated with real-life experiences that motivate one to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth by setting clear goals and defining one’s roadmap to achieve them. It wasn’t just passive listening—he incorporated interactive exercises that encouraged audience participation in a positive and uplifting atmosphere.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

 Interactive Questioning Session, organized by seniors of
AME, brought together students and alumni for an interactive and informative session by online. The event aimed to create a conducive environment for open dialogue and knowledge sharing.

The online Q&A session witnessed active participation from students, who posed thought-provoking questions, leading to insightful discussions.

FRESHER'S DAY

Freshers Day event commenced with an enthusiastic introduction session, setting the tone for a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and memorable moments. The organizing committee warmly welcomed the fresh faces, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for the new members of the community

LECTURE ON PAINT SLUDGE RECYCLING

The session was on the topic “Paint Sludge Recycling”. Emphasizing the significance of sustainable practices, the event aimed to encourage responsible waste management and the adoption of recycling initiatives.

Renowned experts in environmental science and waste management delivered insightful lectures, shedding light on the environmental consequences of paint sludge and the potential solutions through recycling

SEMINAR ON ABROAD EDUCATION

The seminar on abroad education commenced on August 17th in our department. The event was organized by Association of Manufacturing Engineers and featured a guest speaker, Mr. Vinod, who specializes in guiding students towards successful international education experiences.

Attendees were invited to ask questions and seek clarification on the educational fair, the services offered by the consultancy, and related topics. Then the Attendees were encouraged to consider the fair as a valuable resource for planning their academic and career paths

STUDENTS MENTORING ON SOFT SKILLS

The soft skills training session held on 07/11/23 was aimed at enhancing the interpersonal and professional skills of the participants. The training covered key areas such as communication skills, teamwork, time management,
adaptability, emotional intelligence, leadership, and conflict resolution. The session was designed to be interactive, engaging, and practical, providing participants with valuable insights and tools for personal and professional development

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to share insights and seek clarification on various soft skills topics. Participants were encouraged to apply the learned skills in their daily lives and professional settings for continued growth and success

MOCK GROUP DISCUSSION

The Association of Manufacturing Engineers (AME) recently organized an insightful mock group discussion session for the third-year students. This event, conducted in collaboration with the Class of Seventy Six (COSS), aimed to equip students with the necessary skills for effective group discussions—an essential component of various professional settings.

Led by esteemed mentors in the field, the session provided a platform for students to engage, learn, and grow. participants were divided into groups, each tasked with selecting a topic from a range of options provided. The groups, fueled by enthusiasm and curiosity, embarked on lively debates and exchanges, showcasing their analytical prowess and communication skills
